Position Summary

This role is intended for a dynamic individual excited about the opportunity to use technology to help drive customer success while building a successful business with a collaborative and customer-centric culture.  

The role falls within our Professional Services team and is primarily responsible for delivering IT consultancy services to a broad range of clients. The Network Consultant works in a collaborative method with clients and peers to design and deliver IT projects through all project phases, including presales. The incumbent will be required to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in translating business requirements into technical solutions, while communicating project needs, constraints, and successes.

The position reports to the Manager, Service Delivery. The position works 40 hours per week, with business hours being 7:00am to 5:00pm PST, Monday to Friday. Balancing multiple project priorities with deadlines is a requirement and there may be a requirement for after-hours work and or travel depending on project needs.

What You’ll Do Here

  • Provide delivery expertise, and direction to projects and other IT team members
  • Deliver IT support, project planning, and technical delivery services to a broad range of clients
  • Lead on projects from initial assessment, through planning, design and implementation
  • Deploy and manage technology solutions built on various networking platforms including:
  • Cisco
  • Fortinet
  • Aruba
  • Meraki
  • Pal Alto
  • Experience with scripting and infrastructure as code
  • Strong knowledge of:
  • DHCP, DNS
  • Switching, Routing and VPNs
  • Wireless design and implementation - Audits/planning
  • Wired network design and implementation
  • Firewall rules, optimization, and hardening
  • Network Access Control (NAC)
  • Network security principles and practices
  • Project and ad hoc escalation support for Tier 3 type issues
  • Conduct network assessments and provide written recommendations
  • Create accurate and effective documentation, and assist with developing best practices
  • Provide technical support and escalation response to client IT staff
  • Assist account executive and clientele in defining technical requirements and solutions

Qualifications/Expertise

  • 5-10 years or more of relevant work experience
  • Certifications:
  • Minimum CCNP, however CCIE is preferred
  • Fortinet NSE 4
  • Palo Alto PCNSE preferred
  • Aruba ACMA, ACSA, and ACCA
  • 5-10 years of directly relevant experience in a highly complex network environment is required
  • Working knowledge of Software-Defined Networking solutions (i.e., Cisco ACI Datacenter, Aruba Fabric Composer)
  • Working knowledge of Network Configuration, Management, and Automation systems (i.e. Aruba Central, Cisco DNA)
  • Working knowledge of Firewall Management Solutions (i.e. Fortigate FortiManager, Palo Alto Panorama)
  • Working knowledge of InterVRF and MultiVRF configurations and design
  • Expert level knowledge of networking & firewalling in the Azure IAAS cloud
  • Expert level knowledge of Enterprise Firewall management and configuration
  • Expert level knowledge of routing and routing protocols including MPLS, OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP
  • Expert level knowledge of datacenter networking (segmentation, security, VXLAN, ACI)
  • Expert level knowledge of VPN and VPN protocols including DMVPN, IPSEC, and GRE
  • Expert level knowledge of IP, TCP, and UDP is required
  • Continuing education and training a must

  • Develop strong and lasting customer relationships with key clients
  • Assist with the development of proposals and pre-sales exercises including the presentation of technologies and solution proposals to clients and prospective clients
  • Pass certification exams and complete training as appropriate to demonstrate skillset to clients and foster strong vendor relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a formal business setting
  • Participate in business development exercises

Requirements

  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Hold a valid Driver's License and vehicle
  • Proficient English (written/verbal) communication in a business setting

Compensation

The Network Consultant position is a full time, salaried position and compensation is commensurate with skills, experience and abilities

IX Solutions is pleased to offer remote work opportunities for our employees, however we do require our employees to live in Alberta or British Columbia, Canada. Preference will be given to candidates who reside in Alberta or British Columbia.
