We're thrilled to announce the latest addition to our IX Solutions team, Luis Alan, who joins us as a Solution Architect. Luis brings with him an exceptional blend of expertise, experience, and enthusiasm that promises to enrich our team and enhance our ability to serve our clients.
A Journey of Diverse Experiences
Born in the lush landscapes of Costa Rica and having spent his formative years between there and Pitt Meadows, Canada, Luis has a rich cultural background that's as diverse as his professional experience. Currently residing in Foothills County, just south of Calgary, Luis lives on a small acreage with his wife, their horses, barn cats, and a playful Golden Retriever puppy named Waffle. His love for animals and nature is evident, and it's this connection to the environment around him that keeps him grounded.
Luis's career path is nothing short of adventurous. Having worked on cruise ships as an IT Systems Manager, he has traveled to 76 countries, immersing himself in global cultures and bringing a world of experience to his new role at IX. His time at sea saw him managing everything from satellite systems to Wi-Fi, honing a broad skill set that would serve him well in his future endeavors.
Settling in the Calgary area in 2018, Luis transitioned to a role as a Network Specialist for Alberta Health Services, where he spearheaded projects to improve Wi-Fi coverage in Alberta's hospitals. His journey through the energy sector further developed his expertise in network management, cybersecurity, and cloud services, showcasing his ability to lead and innovate in complex technical environments.
Luis briefly studied computer science in Costa Rica and has since completed continuous education courses and certifications at the University of Calgary and beyond. Holding an ITIL V4 Foundations certification, Luis is committed to expanding his knowledge and skills, always staying ahead in the fast-evolving field of IT.
Bridging Gaps at IX Solutions
As a Solution Architect at IX, Luis will leverage his extensive experience to bridge the gap between client needs and the innovative solutions IX Solutions can offer. He looks forward to driving customer optimization and growth, and creating a positive impact through integrity and performance. Collaboration and team spirit are what Luis values most in his role, and he's excited to contribute to our culture of innovation and excellence.
Life Beyond Work
When he's not architecting solutions, Luis enjoys life on his acreage with his wife and animals, indulging in hobbies like carpentry and building projects. An avid runner, Luis dreams of completing a full marathon one day—a hobby that helps him connect with nature and test his limits. With a goal to visit 100 countries, he has a passion for travel and cultural exploration, because in his words, “nothing helps you develop empathy and awareness for others like sharing their culture, and seeing both the good and the not-so-good about how they live.”
Luis's journey is a reminder that life is a blend of experiences, learning, and the pursuit of excellence. His motto, "Sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn," reflects his positive outlook and growth mindset.
